Who Qualifies for VA Dental Care
The VA classifies dental eligibility into several tiers. The requirements are strict:
- Class I: Veterans with a compensable service-connected dental condition rated at 10% or higher
- Class II: Veterans who apply within 180 days of discharge for one-time treatment of conditions that existed at separation
- Class III: Veterans with a non-compensable service-connected dental condition that is aggravating a medical condition being treated by the VA
- Class IV: Veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating
- Class V: Veterans participating in a VA vocational rehabilitation programme
- Class VI: Veterans receiving care under the VA homeless programmes
- Former POWs: eligible for comprehensive dental care

VADIP: The VA's Alternative (and Its Limits)
The VA offers the Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) as an alternative for veterans who do not qualify for direct dental care. Here is what VADIP actually provides:
